“I’m a contemporary painter. The designs found in nature, the strength I see in trees, and the fragility of the human spirit, are my strongest sources of inspiration.  Painting in series gradually allows new themes and concepts to develop from my creative journey.”

About the Bare Branches series

The Bare Branches series are abstracts studies of trees. Trees have been the theme of my works since 2007.  They began as realistic oils.  However, as my interest grew, my focus began shifting from trees to mainly focusing on their architectural qualities found in bare branches, tree trunks, or roots.  Through these works, I want to accentuate the trees graphic elements of design in lines, shapes, textures, and color, and depicting them in a vacant background.  In order to fully express this vision and perception, I chose to work with encaustic paints and monoprints.
