Monprints are spontaneous prints that can not be duplicated. They are rubbings from a piece of paper placed directly over fresh oil or ink paintings created on a plate, glass or plexiglass.
The source of inspiration to the theme of bare branches were from my numerous visits at Los Osos Oaks – California State Parks of the San Luis Obispo Coast from which the main group of my monoprints were influenced.
On the Way to Ben’s is actually the title of a group of monoprints in which I added colors and buds to the theme of Bare Branches. While painting the first one, I was enjoying a banjo instrumental on XM radio. I pictured myself driving to a place belonging to someone named Ben. When I glanced at the screen, I was surprise to see that the name of the musician was actually Ben! So I dedicated this grouping to him.
